The Transpennine Branch of the Clarsach Society

Transpennine Harps is a branch of the Clarsach society*. Clarsach is the Gaelic word for small harp and the Clarsach is sometimes known as the Celtic Harp.

Transpennine Harps aims to promote and encourage harp playing in individuals of all ages. It has members from all over the North of England including West Yorkshire, Scarborough and Sheffield.

The group comprises members of all abilities and backgrounds. It arranges workshops and concerts as well as social events.

Harp Hire   If you’ve thought about learning to play the small harp but don’t want to take the plunge of buying your own instrument until you’ve had a go, Transpennine Harps has a small number of Clarsachs which it rents out to beginners of any age. For further details contact the Harp Secretary.

* The Clarsach Society is a Charitable Organisation based in Edinburgh with 11 branches all over the country
